In June, 2009 a Montgomery County jury awarded $240,000 to a client information technology company that successfully claimed a trade secret violation. After an eight day jury trial with 15 witnesses the jury also found that the Plaintiff's business was intentionally and wrongfully interfered with in the context of a bid on a government contract.

Settlement Against a Radiologist for Misdiagnosis of a Broken Neck
In April, 2009 a settlement was reached four days before trial between the Plaintiff and the radiologist for a misdiagnosis of a broken neck resulting in a cervical rod implant. The settlement number is subject to confidentiality. The Plaintiff had six expert witnesses from Michigan, Chicago and Maryland to support the case.

Class Action Gets Green Light in Speed Camera Case
William Askinazi successfully argued the legal merits of a class action challenging the legality of Montgomery County's Speed Camera statute and defeated a Motion to Dismiss the same. The case has been brought on behalf of all persons who were issued citations for speed camera infractions. The Plaintiff alleges that the statute enabling the canmeras has been breached by allegedly awarding a contingency fee to the operator.

Maryland Seat Back Class Action Certification Filed
A class action agisnt Ford, GM and Chrysler has proceeded to class action certification status in the Northern District of Maryalnd US District Court. The case alleges that certain makes and models of cars have defective seatbacks causing collapse in low to moderate speed rear impacts. The case was filed ten years agio and has made new law in Maryland in Lloyd v. General Motors.
William Askinazi is originator of the class action and is trial counsel.
Wrongful Employment Discrimination Suit Derailed
In March, 2009 William Askinazi successfully defended a food company against claims of racial discrimiation. The case claimed damages of $1M and settled for a nuisance amount.
